Addiction is Complicated

pills17.jpg

Addiction can be complicated to overcome. It is not, however, complicated to understand. It’s a series of choices. The addict is at some point exposed to drugs. The addict makes the choice to remain in that situation. Then they are faced with the choice to use the drugs or decline. The addict chooses to get drugs of their own. The addict then chooses the frequency of their drug abuse. The addict’s choices can lead them to selling drugs, just to support their own habit. Each choice is the addicts own. By the time the addict is seeking recovery, the drugs are making the choices for the addict.

The addict now has to make another choice. Do you want addiction recovery. Or do you want to let your life spiral out of control. The good news is, it is your choice. It is a lot simpler choice too. The addict will have to renew the choice of recovery every day.

Remember those two words “every day”. They will become a mantra to the addict. There is no series of choices. There is only one choice, made repeatedly. The addict must choose “I will not succumb to my drug addiction, today”. Sounds simple, right? “Just today, I won’t use drugs.” It isn’t so simple you can do it alone.
