When someone has a methamphetamine addiction, they often fail to realize the affect that their choice is having on others. While it is easy for them to see emotion, they often become confused.

For some, the drugs make it difficult for them to completely comprehend what they are doing, and how it can affect people. For others, they may be rebellious; they do not care about what they are doing to themselves or others. Either way, a methamphetamine addiction can easily affect multiple aspects of their lives, as well as others. One of the important groups that can be harshly affected is the friends of the person with the methamphetamine addiction.A methamphetamine addiction is often considered more dangerous, and more harmful, than some other drug addictions, such as alcohol or marijuana. While there is no addiction that is positive, hearing that someone has a methamphetamine addiction brings more harsh connotations. There are some simple reasons for this, however. Someone with an addiction like this can be violent, and can suffer from mood swings, especially when on a binge. These mood swings and violent tendencies can make a friend feel as though they have lost one. They do not recognize the person they see; while they wish they had that friend back, they realize that the person has changed into someone else.

Friends can only handle so much. When someone has a methamphetamine addiction, and the people around them do not share the same issue, it can be very difficult. The problems that they face are unneeded. They may realize that all of the emotional (and possibly physical) distress that they feel can be removed. While it may hurt them to leave someone as a friend, dealing with their methamphetamine addiction is harder.
